On Monday 6/23 at Alumni Field in Newington, Elmer’s defeated the East Hartford Angels 6-5 in 8 innings on a walk off wild pitch with the bases loaded and 2 outs. Speed on the bases was crucial to the win. Elmer’s managed 9 hits, 7 stolen bases and had 4 of the 6 runs score on wild pitches or passed balls.
Nick Dinino led the way offensively with 2 hits, 2 SB and 2 RBI’s. Russell LaFleur contributed by walking 3 times and scored 2 runs. LaFleur also picked up the win in relief on the mound throwing the final 4 innings of the game. Scott Kelleher led the Angels offensively with 2 hits, a walk, and a RBI while also scoring a run.
Elmer’s record improves to 6-5-1 while the Angels fall to 10-3. Elmer’s next game will be Wednesday 6/25 at Kingswood Oxford High School vs the Chicago Sam’s Orioles at 6pm.
