The Portland Panthers defeated the Willimantic Ridges on Tuesday night 2-1 in a rain shortened 5 inning game. The 2nd game of the scheduled doubleheader was postponed. For Portland, Mike Baccaro battled through the 5 innings with a slippery baseball at times, striking out 6 Ridges, including striking out the side in the final inning to secure the win. Also for the Panthers, Dan Bologna had 2 hits, an RBI and scored a run. For Willimantic, Chuck Sauer pitched well for the 5 innings, with an impressive 7 strikeouts and on the offensive side, he went 2 for 2 including a double and a solo bomb to lead the Ridges.
