The Connecticut Twilight League and the Greater Hartford Twilight Baseball League got together again for our 2022 end of season All-Star Game at Muzzy Field again. This year in addition to the regular game, the leagues teamed up for our first ever combined Home Run Derby. The CTL held 4 previous single league HR Derby’s in 2010, 2016, 2017, and 2018. This fifth iteration of the Derby and first interleague one may have been the best of them all. With the Muzzy Field setting, we knew it was a tough field to have a HR derby at, but a few guys were up to the challenge. We allowed aluminum bats for use in the HR Derby only this year to increase players chances of hitting home runs. Our own Kez Douglas of the Wethersfield Dodgers (and also of the GHTBL South Windsor Phillies) put on a show, and took home the championship trophy. The runner up and other finalist Justin Marks from the GHTBL. Kez hit 9 home runs in the first round, which topped the whole competition. Kez hit another 7 HR in the finals. Justin hit 6 home runs in the first round and 5 in the finals. Congrats fellas.
In the All-Star game, the GHTBL took advantage of a few miscues and timely hitting to win 5-1… getting revenge for the CTL win in 2021 at Palmer Field in Middle Town. Better luck next time CTL.
