This off-season, the two teams with former connections with the CTL Indians, each chose to rebrand.
The 2020 Expansion team, the New Britain Hurricanes rebranded as the original idea they had before the 2020 season, but chose to wait on during the Covid shortened 2020 season. The team completely filled with New Britain players, wanted to recognize the team many of their players grew up watching and rooting for. The team led by Manager Ken Noyola resurrected the name the New Britain Rock Cats in respect and homage to their home towns former AA MILB club. They will have new uniforms and hats for the 2021 season, and play their home games in their classic hometown stadium, Beehive Field.
In addition, when before the 2020 season the New Britain players from the former Indians split off to form their own team, the Chicago Sam’s Orioles merged with the remaining Indians… forming a powerhouse team… which as part of the deal with their merger retained the Indians name for only that one season. That Indians (merged with Orioles) team was certainly a powerhouse in the CTL, defeating the 2019 Tri-State Champion Terryville Black Sox in the 2020 CTL Championship. The Black Sox jumped into the CTL for the 2020 season when the Tristate Baseball eague chose not to play with the Covid Concerns and having teams in more than just Connecticut. So after merging under the name Indians for one remaining year and winning a championship under that name… the Indians after a long and tough process picked a name that went well with their Rocky Hill home field. The Rockies are getting brand new uniforms and hats which should look fantastic on the field in 2021. Here is a 3D rendering of the new jerseys.
