Lots going on in the league…
- The Bristol Knights clinched the top seed entering the playoffs with their win over the Orioles on Friday 7/22. Behind the pitching of Marco Ross and the bases clearing double by Phil Rothkugel, the Knights defeated the division rival Orioles in a game that both teams were missing some players. Along with the Knights clinching first, Elmer’s are locked into 3rd and the Orioles are locked into 4th, with the Expos locked into 10th.
- As of right now…There are 4 teams (Indians, Angels, Pirates, and Nationals) nearly deadlocked in the standings battling to stay out of the bottom 4 and starting in the elimination bracket…with the Panthers not too far behind. The Indians only have 2 games remaining and the Angels 3, but Glastonbury and Moodus have 4 each and the ability to make a major move in the standings. Tie Breakers could come into play… remember, they go like this. In the event that two teams are tied for a spot in the standings based on winning percentage, the first tie-breaker will be head-to-head winning percentage. The second tie-breaker will be winning percentage vs the teams in your division (if in the same division otherwise skip to third tie breaker). The third tie beaker will be regular season cumulative run differential. The fourth tie breaker will be runs scored. The fifth and final tie breaker will be a coin toss.
- Playoffs Start Monday August 8th. There are 4 games that day at more than one site… then after that first day, all games as usual at Rotary Field in South Windsor. Good Luck to all teams.
- SEND IN YOUR STATS… ASAP. Some teams are falling way behind. Not fair to the ones that do them.
- ALL-STAR GAME… we are confirmed for the 2016 CTL vs GHTBL All-Star Game. The game will be played at 7pm on Monday August 22nd at McKenna Field in East Hartford. Managers… start thinking about who’s had the best years on your teams and who is the best player to recommend for the All-Star game. Also… DO YOUR STATS AGAIN. Stats will help us justify the case for making our best All-Star team. We don’t plan on just having every team send a defined number of guys, instead we plan to name the All-Star team from your recommendations to try and put together the best competitive team we can to represent the league. All teams will be represented. Lets go beat those guys!
