The Plaza Azteca Indians rebounded from a tough week prior to win 3 games this week and reclaim first place in the West Division. Albert Pienkowski had another strong start in beating the Knights at Muzzy Field on Wed, 11-2. Francisco Perez and John Skinner each had 3 hits. CJ Inturri had 2 hits as did Chris Barsa along with 2 RBI.
Thurs the Indians had a pitchers duel with the Glastonbury Pirates winning 2-1. Francisco Perez went 5 1/3 innings for win with John Skinner getting the last 5 outs for the save and driving in the go ahead run in the 6th with a sac fly.
Friday the Indians beat the Angels 8-1 at Martin Park. Brian Pinney went the distance and helped himself with a 2 run HR. Brian Filbig had 3 hits and Keith Echevarria had a clutch double.
In other games, Elmers had no problem beating the Expos on Tues night in Newington. Willimantic had a strong week shutting out Glastonbury 2-0 behind Pete Moulin. Then at Muzzy Field they cruised to a 12-3 win behind the pitching of Dan Livingston. Chris Laughlin had 3 hits and 4 RBI for the Ridges. The Pirates bounced back Friday to beat the Knights in Bristol, 7-0. That was the 4th shutout of the season already for Glastonbury.
